This  Sunday, September 3, 2023, which is Labor Day Weekend, Rev. Laura Ruth Jarrett talks about labor, how Jesus pushed himself to feed the hungry, clothe the naked, and heal the sick. Jesus turned the attention of the disciples to do good work for the community. We are called to come to church to do the work that Jesus pushes us to do, to labor for the freedom and joy of one another.

At Hope Central, we have a Leadership Team that listens and cares for us. Sometimes we don't agree with the leaders, but when we don't let the Leadership Team lead, we can not thrive. Let's look for the glory in each of us and thrive!

Sunday, August 13, 2023 - Eleventh Sunday After Pentecost

This  Sunday, August 13, 2023, Rev. Laura Ruth Jarrett recalls the story of Peter walking on water, a test of Peter's faith and trust in Jesus. Laura Ruth uses the example of water, that we at Hope Central dive into the "waters" to see if Jesus will hold us up. And that we represent Jesus and are "lifeguards" to those who go down too far in the water and need help, just as Jesus did for Peter.

This  Sunday, August 6, 2023, Rev. Laura Ruth Jarrett recalls the teaching of Jesus feeding 5000 + people with a few loaves of bread and a few fish. At Hope Central, we have love and care for one another. In Jewish lore, "G-d creates much out of little". We should look for God's gifts that are all around us. We are so blessed!

God asks many things in Exodus, and one thing God says is, "If every skillful one among us does good work, our work will spread to all the earth and to the ends of the world." We are a community of makers, and we must keep building a just, loving world!

This  Sunday, July 16, 2023, Rev. Laura Ruth Jared preaches that it takes generations to make a garden - to plant, observe, water, and care. The same can be said of following Jesus' commandment, "to love one another", and it takes generations to get this garden of love and care right too. Hope Central is the garden, and the people of Hope Central are the gardeners - to cultivate the hope of love and justice for all!

This  Sunday, May 28, 2023, Yara Gonzalez-Justiniano asks "what is our Pentecost?" It is a time of harvest, and in God's time, it is a perfect harvest of love, peace, and community. She explains that God's time is perfect, and the breath of life never leaves us in this perfect time.

He realized that the word "believe" was used in that reading as a verb, and the significance is immense! If you "believe" in God, you must do something, take action. This Sunday, February 19, 2023, Rev. Nina Swift ponders the Transfiguration of Jesus while she holds her Grandchild Artemis. Jesus was revealed as fully human by Mary, and fully Holy by the Creator. And Aremis is also fully human and fully holy and how can you be born with "Original Sin" when we are all created in the image of God just like Artemis? Rev. Nina asks us to see who we really are with the help of God.

This Sunday, February 12, 2023, Rev. Laura Ruth Jarrett cites Luke's story of Mary, Joseph, and Jesus traveling 3 days with their extended family to Jerusalem for Passover, then traveling 3 days back home to realize that Jesus wasn't with them! So typical of a 12-year-old! With that story in mind, she encourages people to support and cherish parents and help them fulfill their dreams that their child(ren) is filled with love and grounded by God.
